SUCCESSFUL ELLESMERE

EXHIBITORS

Exhibitors from Ellesmere were in the picture at the Ashburton show on Thursday, quite a number of awards coming to the district.

, In Southdowns, Mr J. D. Galpin was most successful, gaining first and reserve championship for ram above 28 months, first and champion for ram 16 to 28 months, second prize for ram under 16 months, natural condition first and v.h.c. for ram under 16 months, shorn, first and champion for ewe above 20 months, first and reserve champion for ewe 16 to 28 months, first for ewe under 16 months, v.h.c. for ewe above 16 months, natural condition, second for ewe under 16 months^ shorn, and first for ewe, under 16 months, natural

condition.

Mr John Brooks in the Ryeland section gained . first, h.c., and reserve champion in the class for ram above 28 months', first, champion and v.h.c. for ram 16 to 28 months, second for ram under 16 months, second for ram under 16 months, shorn, second for ewe under 16 months. Mr Joseph Brooks gained v.h.c. in two classes.

Mr J. D. Galpin was also very successful in the fat sheep and lamb classes. In the former he scooped the pool, gaining four firsts and a second, while for fat lambs his awards included two firsfs and a

special.

The pig section was another one in which Ellesmere breeders were successful. Mr A. L. Barnett secured all the prizes for Berkshire, including two championshps, two reserve championships and five firsts. Mr J. Simpson was equally successful with his Tamworths, his awards including two championships, two reserve championships and five firsts. He also secured the prizes in the classes for porkers and baconers.

Other exhibitors from Ellesmere who were in the prize-list included Miss W. Vaughan, who gained a third prize and a v.h.c. in the pony section, and Mr G. Coe second for rough coated sheep dog, female.
