HOCKEY BALL
SOUTHBRIDGE NEXT THURSDAY
A POPULAR FUNCTION.
An orchestra quite new to Eliesmere dance patrons will make its appearance at the annual ball of the Southbridge Women's Hockey Club, to be held at the Town Hall next Thursday evening. It is known as the Ritz Rhythm Orchestra and is being supplied by Mr Colin Campbell. This alone is a sufficient guarantee that it is a first-class combination, but in addition the opinion of all who have heard the band at dances in the city is that the Hockey Club will be excellently served in regard to the music for its ball.
Few social functions held in the district are looked forward to with more pleasure than the hockey ball at Southbridge. It has been remarkably popular for many years, and Thursday's event promises to maintain in every way the high standard set in the past. Included in the programme are two Monte Carlo dances —one for district hockey girls and their partners and the other open to all the guests. The club has not overlooked the interests of those of its supporters who prefer a form of enjoyment less strenuous than dancing, and arrangements have been made to hold a cards tournament in the anteroom. The ladiea are, as in previous years, giving special attention to the supper arrangements. A large and representative attendance is expected and a capital evening's enjoyment is assured.
