DTJNURE FOOTPRINT (15203), Clydesdale Stallion, black, foaled 1908. Bred by and property of William Dunlop, Dunure Mains, Ayr. The greatest and most successful Clydeslale stallion, combining both show-yard distinction, success as a sire of fertility and phenomenal service fees. His sire was Baron of Buchlyvie (11263), the most successful breeding horse got by Baron's Pride (9122). The dam of Dunure Footprint was Dunure Ideal (21283) by Auchenflower (12007), one of the most beautiful Clydesdale mares ever exhibited and a record brood mare. Dunure Footprint for at least five seasons stood at the head of the winning Clydesdale sires of the Clydesdale breed. His terms for 1919 were 50 gns. at service and 50 gns. additional for each mare proving.in foal. Dunure Footprint, as a yearling, was first at Glasgow Stallion Show, Ayr, Glasgow Summer Show, R.A.S.E. Gloucester, and at the H. & j A.S., Stirling. He was also champion iat the Royal and reserve champion
at the Highland. As a two-year-old he was first, Glasgow (both shows) and Ayr, and he won the Cawdor Cup at Glasgow and the championship at Ayr. As a three-year-old he was first at the Glasgow Stallion Show, Ayr, and at the H. & A.S. Inverness, and he was second at the Glasgow Summer Show. His own brother, Dunure Index (15809), was first as a two-year-old at Glasgow Stallion Show, Ayr, and at the H. & A.S., Inverness. As a four-year-old in 1912, he was second both at the Glasgow Stallion Show and at the H. & A.S., Paisley, and at the Glasgow Stallion Show in 1914 he was again first aged stallion. This was his last appearance in the show-ring. On the same day his own son, Dunure Refiner (17872) was first prize two-year-old and won the Cawdor Cup, and his own brother, Dunure Keynote (17869) in the same year was first at Kilmarnock, Ayr, Glasgow Summer Show and Edinburgh, and his own sister, Dunure Chosen, also won the Cawdor Cup in the | same year. He won the Brydon I Challenge Shield in 1911.
