A. AND P. ASSOCIATION
ANNUAL MEETING
The annual meeting of the Ellesmere A. and P. Association was held on Friday evening, the retiring president, Mr W. J. Lemon, presiding over a large attendance of members until after the election of officers.
The report and balance-sheet, which have already Been published in the Guardian, were adopted.
Messrs J. S. Simpson and W. H. Tyson (Springston) and Norman Brown (Dunsandel) were elected members of the association, and Master Oakleigh Osborne a junior member.
The resignation of one member was accepted.
The president announced that since the balancersheet had been prepared the sum of £23 had come to hand, In reply to a question, he said that rent mainly made up the amount.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS
The election of officers resulted as follows : — Patrons, the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C., Messrs G. E. Rhodes, J. Connolly, M.P., H. S. S. Kyle, M.P., and D. Jones; president, Mr J. C. Chamberlain; vice-presi-dent, Mr H. O. Gardiner; auditors, Messrs S. Bongard and J. H. McMillan; treasurer, Mr A. J. Inwood; honorary veterinary surgeons, Messrs A. Leslie and J. Stafford; committee, Messrs H. McLenaghen, D. M. Lill, J. Aldridge, P. V. Bailey, L. R. Barnett, G. Benny, S. R. Boag, C. Bowis, R. G. Bishop, L. B. Goe, E. H. Galpin, H. G. Chamberlain, F. L. Graham, A. C. Greenwood, J. Legg, D. K. Lochhead, R. McClure, I. Mawson, W. McLachlan, A. McLaughlin, T. C. McLachlan, M. O'Brien, R. J. Parkin and J. T. Parkin.
The president announced that Mr Duncan McArthur had donated a champion ribbon for the best draught gelding on the ground at the next show. The offer was accepted with thanks.
Mr Lemon then vacated the chair, welcomed the incoming president, and congratulated him and Mr Gardiner upon their election. He thanked the judges, class stewards, members of the committee, the secretary and assistant secretary and Miss Cooke for the assistance they had given to him during the year. He hoped that Messrs Chamberlain and Gardiner would have as pleasant a period in office as he. had done.
In returning thanks, Mr Chamberlain said that he appreciated the honour very much. To have io follow such ah excellent president as Mr Lemon would, he recognised, be no easy task, but with the co-operation of the committee he would do his best for the association.
Mr Gardiner also returned thanks for his election.
Mr Chamberlain congratulated the old members of the committee on their re-election, and welcomed the new members to office.
A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Lemon for his services as president. In moving the motion, Mr Chamberlain said that the duties of the office had made many calls on the president, and Mr Lemon had not spared himself or his time in looking after the interests of the association.
The first Thursday in the month was fixed as the day of the meeting, the first to be held on June 6.
