MOTUKARARA

At the monthly meeting of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union, Mrs L. Coop presided over a large attendance of members. An invitation to the Diamond HarbourPurau birthday to be held on June 15 was received. Mrs H. Nutt explained the aims and objects of the Country Education Course which the Otago University and Canterbury College had undertaken. It was decided that an appeal be made for Nurse Maude. Next month's competition is "An Eggless Fruit Cake." Mr H. Wagner gave a most interesting address on his travels in the East. Mrs J. Rennie accorded a hearty vote of thanks to the speaker.

Competitions resulted: — Pikelets, Mrs L. Coop 1, Mrs F. Miller 2; flowers, Mrs J. Miller 1, Mrs V. Robinson 2; raspberry jam, Mrs D. Anderson 1, Mrs V. Robinson 2. Kaituna ladies were hostesses for the afternoon.

We have had our attention drawn to the fact that in the detailed results of the North Rakaia River Board elections an error occurred in the number of votes cast for Mr A. Anderson at Leeston. The number was given as 27, whereas it should have been 47.
