LINCOLN
At the Lincoln School a farewell party was tendered to Miss M. Hoban, a member of the teaching staff, who has' been transferred to the Springston School. Enjoyable items by the children included the following:— Pianoforte solo, Jocelyn Fitzgibbon; recitations, John Calder, Ngaire Smart and Alwyn Mills; dance duo, Winifred and Eleanor Scott; duets, Nancy and Beryl Stewart, and Dulcie and Arthur Hopley; song, Patty Stevens. Winifred Scott, on behalf of the pupils, presented Miss Hoban with a fountain pen and wished her a happy time at Springston. Mr W. Hopley, chairman of the School Committee, presented Miss Hoban with a book of poems from the parents. Miss Hoban made a suitable acknowledgment. The opportunity was also taken to make a presentation to Mr L. Thomson on the eve of his marriage. The gift, a crystal cruet set from the pupils arid their parents, was handed to Mr Thomson by Les Milner, and the recipient expressed his thanks for the gift and good wishes. Miss D. O'Leary was the accompanist, and a dainty afternoon tea was served by the ladies.
The following draw for to-morrow's games has been prepared by the Lincoln Basket-ball Sub-Association:— Prebbleton v. Prebbleton A; Lincoln v. Tai- Tapu; Springston A v. Ladbrooks; Wakaipa v. Lincoln A; Greenpark v. Springston. The matches take place on the ground of the first-mentioned team in each case.
Miss M. Mathieson, who has been appointed to succeed Miss M. Hoban at the Lincoln School, will take up her duties when the school re-opens after the term holidays.
