LAKESIDE

CIRCUIT LADIES' GUILD.

The usual monthly meeting of the Leeston Methodist Circuit Ladies' Guild was held yesterday afternoon in the Brookside Church, when Mrs G. P. Hunt presided over an attendance of 37 members.

The meeting opened with a hymn, followed by a Scripture reading and prayer by Rev. G. P. Hunt.

The church was beautifully decorated and comfortably heated, and an interesting feature of the afternoon w.as a large table piled with gifts of clothing contributed by Guild members. The Unemployment Relief Depot will receive 140 articles of wearing apparel as a result of the effort.

A varied programme of gramophone items, competitions and readings made the time pass pleasantly, and everyone thoroughly appreciated the delicious afternoon tea provided by the Brookside ladies, who were accorded a hearty vote of thanks.

The next meeting will be held in Wesley Hail, Leeston, on August 13.
