THE PIONEER YEAR.
In the course of a comprehensive report upon the first season's activities, presented by the secretary, Mr L. S. K. Oliver, it was stated that the Club had been formed at a meeting held early in December last and had experienced a successful year. The season had closed with a membership of 112, comprised of 35 ladies, 42 men, 19 girls and 16 boys, all of whom were financial. The committee had had the bath cleaned and relined on various occasions as it was required, and had endeavoured to improve the water supply. The gorse had been cleared from the end of the bath and the outside and inside of the dressing sheds and entrance doors had been painted. Other improvements included the re-cov-ering of the springboard with cocoaniit matting, the repairing of the divingplatform, the fitting of bolts to the doors and the cleaning of obstacles from the outlet pipe. The season had ■concluded with a successful carnival, in which there were 26 events and approximately 175 entries. Mention was made of the generosity of those who [had given trophies. Among the matters requiring attention this season was an improvement in the water supply. |In order to encourage junior swimmers, it was suggested that weekly j races should be conducted for a small I trophy, and also relay races.
The balance-sheet showed a credit of £16 12s 9d. The subscriptions had totalled £17 7s 6d, the receipts from casual sources £2 14s 4d, and the profits from the carnival £3 lis lid.
The report and balance-sheet were adopted and the president and others made reference to the satisfactory financial position.
