SCHOOL COMMITTEE

SOUTHBRIDGE.

Last nig Jit's meeting of the Southbridge District High School Committee was attended by Messrs A. McPherson (chairman), J. Stringer (h.on. sec), T. H. Bennett, T. Habberjam, A. Tong, -R. G. Bishop, J. Hannah, E. J. Parkin and E. A. Inwood. The headman ter (Mr W. C. Eggelton) was also present.

In his report the headmaster stated that the number of pupils on the pri-mary-roll was 193. As the boys had a number of rambler roses ready for set ting out he would be glad if some kind of framework could be erected to train them on. There appeared to be some leakage in the temporary radiator, which would be the better for immediate attention, and the levers on some of the windows required attention. The matters mentioned in the report are to receive attention as soon as possible, Mr Eggelton reported that the gross takings at the concert held last Friday amounted to over £28 5s 3d, and that there would be a net balatfee of about £22.

The Committee's congratulations are to be offered to the teaching staff upon the admirable manner in which the children were trained for the concert!

The *Committee passed a vote of thanks to Mr G. Dyce for presenting a maypole to the school for the use of the infants.
