SUNDAY AFTERNOON

N.2.R.8. COY. NEW SERVICE

The Sunday afternoon sessions lately commenced by 3YA and 2YA and those from IYA Auckland, Avhieh have been in force for several months, are" appreciated very much by the majority of listeners in. Especially is this the case AAdien outside conditions are of a wintry nature as Avas the case last Sunday. The programme of gramophone records put over from 3YA Avas very 'fine indeed, and the selections were very well chosen and a really first class entertainment was the result. - All the records -a. ere electrically reproduced. This method of production entirely does away with the hiss and scratch that is noticeable when listening to the gramophone under ordinary conditions. The latest of these electrical reprodue 1 ers is fitted with A"olunie control and needle-filter. With proper control of the v_lume regulator, the volume, can be cut doAvn to a whisper or, on the other hand, reproduced to several times the volume of the original intensity of the gramophone Avhen Avorking under normal conditions. It is to be hoped that these afternoon sessions will be continued, and so long as the selection of records is Avisely made, a great deal of extra pleasure will be given listeners every Sunday afternoon.
