BULLET-PBOOF GLASS,
I Of all the tests to which nonshatterJ able and bullet proof glass has been ! V put, tests recently conducted, by the San Francisco Police Department were | convincing enough to members of the I Board of Supervisors to permit appropriations to cover installation of this glass in the entire fleet of cars operated by the minions of the law in San Francisco. As a result of these tests, the Howard Automobile Company is making the installation for the police squad. There are 31 cars in the big fleet, and they are all in daily and nightly service, several of them beingused by the shotgun squads in patrol work that extends through the entire city. Participating in the tests made were Chief of Police D. J. O'Brien, Supervisors Warren Shannon, Powers, Badaracco, City Purchasing Agent L. S. Leavy, Police Sergeant Patrick McGee, and Mr Robert V. Chandler, of the Howard Buick organisation. All took turns shooting with various revolvers at close range, and did not succeed in breaking through the glass, which is laminated to withstand terrific impact, and seven-eighths of an inch in thickness.
