MEADOWVALE JERSEYS
YESTERDAY'S DISPERSAL SALE.
SATISFACTORY PRICES REALISED
Yesterday Messrs 11. M,atson and Co. held a clearing sale at " Meadowvale, ■'' Lakeside, on behalf of Mr H. Sehnclle, who is retiring from farming. Special interest was attached to the fixture because of the fine herd of Jersey cattle which Mr Sehnelle has built up during the past 20 years, and there was a large attendance from all parts of the county, besides a number of buyers from adjoining districts. On the whole the sale was highly successful. Competition for all the live and dead stock was keen and full market rates were obtained throughout. Had the Jerseys been brought under the hammer in the early spring instead of at the present time no doubt the prices would have been a good deal higher. Indications are, however, that the winter will bo rather longer than usual and that many farmers will be hard pushed for feed before the spring- grass comes away.
