Saturday last proved the greatest day of all time in the annals of Rugby at Lowburn, when under the shadow of “Sugar Loaf” the home team succeeded in defeating Cromwell by seven points to three, and with it take for the first time the premiership of the county. Good luck to them- There was a big attendance of spectators who were treated to,a hard fast game with a few' passages of brilliancyUp t# the time Lowburn scored with a fine pot, from a penalty by Me Fclin, Cromwell had all the best of it. After Cromwell drew level with a good try by Belts, and they continued to hold the upper hand but could not score again- Jack Haig, with a fine pot won the game for his side, and there was great cheering. Mr Spain was a splendid referee. Tarras 10 (two converted tries) beat Clyde 5 points (a try scored by Hanning and converted by Sanders- It was a ragged and unnecessarily rough game, and not worth a detailed accountMatakanui beat Patearoa at Omakau by .9 to 6- Each side got a penalty in the first half, and Patearoa scored a try in the second, Matak. afterwards getting two tries- The play towards the end was briliiauf. The (sub-union dismissed the two Cromwell appeals against AlexandraThe tournament takes place at Alexandra on August 2b,
