CORRESPONDENCE

I'bo opinions expressed by our corres* spoil.'ents are not hoc- ssarily our owtt, and we cannot he held responsible for such. C mmutrications mu-t not In written on b <th Seles of the pur er, and must l.e a compunied by name and addresr of writer To Tin; Editor, Sir, Forethought loz. Business Acumen loz. Coiiiinoiiseiise Jgr. These I think should about about cure the complaint of your Alexandra contemporary, who in an article on the Hospital Board on Wednesday lost, considers the collector’s salary excessive. Now sir, in view of the fact that the collector lias to travel almost the whole of Vincent County more than once and has to remain away from home a week at a time, which means extra expense for keep, and lias to use either a horse or a bicycle (neither of which arc to Ire obtained for nothing) to say nothing about the upkeep of same, and also that the said collector has to call at some distant places (as lias been my experience) live times, where in one instance only a florin was obtained, T fail to sec that the commission is excessive. The collector has also to put up with the abuse of non-contributors chose to level at him against the management of the institution, the doctor, the secretary and all who have anything to do with the said institution and has to wear a serene countenance when at the same time he feels inclined to knock the individual down. Why, sir, instead of Ibc commission being excessive it is not enough and ought to be raised from 15 to 20 per cent. As the trustees are aware I commenced collecting on July 24th and did not finish until .May 3.lst. So i would advise the writer of the article referred to, to swallow a huge dose of the prescription which heads this letter and I think we will hear no more about the collector’s commission being excessive.—l am, &c., H. G. Wright, Collector Diinstan Hospital.
