Dunedin, June 28. General Hutton, with Canadian and Australian Mounted Infantry Brigade had a successful skirmish with the Boers a little south-east of Pretoria. During the Koning Spruit affair 400 ex-prisoners released Wateval, (under Bullock, of the Devonshire regiment, who was captured at the Battle of Tugela) arrived by train, armed with Mausers. Seven hours fighting ensued. De Wet's force of 800, with three guns, held the enemy in check until the arival of rein« forcements from Kroonstad. Five hundred British prisoners arrived at Mashadorp and saluted Kruger, who raised his hat. The prisoners are well treated. General Bundle's rear guard severely repulsed a daring attack, chasing the Roers to their main laager at Safely berg, killing many and burning farms where Boers took Refuge. General Botha's advance guard has returned to the hills 18 miles from PretoriaIt is officially announced that General Clements wnile. taking supplies and heavy guns from Lidney and Heilbron to Keidel* berg drove the Boers with heavy loss north of the Zand River.
