Mode of present survey useless, ; including bare rocks, shingle beds, and quartz reefs. Good land adjoining excluded from survey. Will you instruct surveyor to get the approved land pointed out by Mayor of Aloxamlra. , “ Vincent Fyke.” Letter to Chief Commissioner, Waste Lands | Board, Dunedin, j “ Clyde, June 30th, 1879. 1 I . “Sir—l have the honour to invite the attention of the Board to the fact that land now being surveyed ou the Eamsdeuch
run is not the same as was inspected and approved by Messrs Green and Clark (members of the Board), and further that whilst i a quantity ot excellent land fit for settlement is being rigidly excluded from the block, a large area of bare rocks and impracticable country is being cut up into sections. Of course, unless this is altered the land will not he sold, and another block of the proper land will be immediately asked for. The present survey is therefore merely a waste of public money and public time; and 1 ask the Board to cause their iuatructious to be carried into effect. “I have the honour to be, Sir, “ Your obedient servant, “ Vincent Pyke.” Telegram to Vincent Pyke, Esq., Clyde. “ Government Buildings, “Wellington, July Ist, 1879. “Surveyor is instructed to see Mayor of Alexandra, with the object of meeting wish ot intending settlers on Earnscleugb block, to ; “Jas.
