Stewards :—Messrs Smitham, llazlett, M'Moran, Fitch, Cox, GlassforJ, M'Phersjn, Kinros?, Gnndley, Morice, o'Regan, Low, Bansusan, Cope, Winstanley and Cogle.

Judge, Mr I!. W. Robinson; Treasurer, Mr J. azlett; Starter, Mr W. Grindley ; Clerk of the Coarse, Mr R. M'Moran ; I on. Secretary, Mr D. Jones. The suicess of this, the f>mth ainra n.c >ting, mast be highly gratif/in; to the sporting community of the JJunstan and its nighborhood. The central position of the Dunstan, and its being in the very heart of a large squatting district, should be sulli'jient to stamp its yearly Meet a? one of the principal events out of Dunedin. Besides the squattew we have a large and well-to-do mining population who al-;o like a little sport, and who keep some redly first-rate bits of Ijlood runninabout in the sheltered nooks of the ranges. When the racing season approaches these horses are put into training, and wl.ca brought into proper condition are often antagonists of no mean an order. Taki.ig all the hor;es through, th-.8 season's muster was higlily s itisiactory, showing mo;t unmistike ibly a vast improvement in our loca' stud. There was no compe'ition with Pnnedin lior es, but anything from that o-'.ar er not fi st-ela s would not have s l ood much of a chince. The only cause j for re-ret was tint the- T >wn Plate a d ; Pmwtan Handicap wore not pr/es worth 100 sovs. each, instead of 75 sovs; there was arnp'e funds in the hand; of the stewar Is to have given these am urn's. I 4 would have given the progru.ime a Letter appearance, and have brought more strangers into the fie'd. i'7s being rather a small .sum to run the risk of going to much expense to win. nevertheless, as we said before, we have great reason to congratulate ourselves upon the meeting for JBGG, and if our racing men are, wise and carry out their intentions of establishing a Jockey Club the principal up-country event will doubtless for the future be on the Dunstan course.
