OBITUARY.

lJm\ed Press Association. 8p Electric Telegraph — Copyright. (Received Dec. 8, 9.15 a.m.) London, Dec. 7. The death of Mr Henry Russell, the well known song writer, in his 87th year, is announced.

Henry Russell was born at Sheerness, Kent,, in December 1813, and was educated at Milan. He left England in 1825' and became an outdoor scholar at Bologna Conversatoire, went to New York in 1833, giving concerts and composing, returned to England in 1840, giving concerts and entertainments in London and all over the country, and retired from public l'fe over 40 years ago. He was the author of many popular songs, including such well-known compositions as "Cheer, Boys, Cheer," "A Life on the Ocean Wave," ami " The Old Armchair."'
