United Association. By Electric Telegraph — Copyright (Received Aug. 4, 9.5 a.m.)

London, Aug. 3.

Sir Claude Macdonald on July 21st reported that the besieged positions at Pekin had been fortified at both sides of their lines, the defence being the French and German Legations on the south-east and the Russian and British on the north-west. Half of the gardens attached to the British Legation, the centre of the American Legation, and everything outside the lines, are in ruins. All the dwellings have been removed, and the spaces covered by them levelled and barricades raised.
