The defendant ia the well known runholdee of Te Mahanga and the plaintiff a ploughman who was working for him. The f sots are these : — On May 16th last Mr Douglas posted up a notice at the station to the pffeofc that in consequence of the low price of bheep and wool, the station wages were to be reduoed 5a per week ; that the week's notice would thenceforth bo abolished on both sides, anyone dissatisfied being able to claim their cheque at once, and Mr Doug'aa to have the right to dismiss any man without notioo. The plaintiff admitted- the notioe of reduction, but claimed that the right to dismiss was illegal. He also claimed that by an i'ld agreement he was entitled to 5s per week more for a part of the time. Mr Douglas offered £10 16a as eettlement in fall, which plaintiff refused. "The plaintiff and defendant having given evideuco, besides three witnesses, Mr Turnbull deoided that the case was too important to fjivejudgmentupon without the production of the station books and two other witnesses. It was quite clear to Me Tarnbull that the decision ia this case would be a precedent for other oaaea pending on the same station. Adjourned to .November Ist.
