Mr Fryer, presiding at a meeting of depositors in Goldsbrough, Mort, and Coy., said the committee had tried to hold out a helping hand to the poor shareholders, Mr Mitchell believed £600,000 was likely to be forthcoming from the rich shareholders. He cordially approved the r.ree*nt proposals, which were better for the shareholders than he had been originally prepared to make, fie had received a cable showing a loss of £60,000 on the year's balance-sheet. Mr Yonng said the banks would probably declare it necessaty to further write down the capital. The banks had consented to take one-third of the amount owing in debenture .took, and accept the remainder in cash as the calls were paid. The meeting unanimously adopted the eoheme, wh\oh was also unanimously aooepted by the shareholder!.
