Purging the Rolls.
Deputation to Sir P. Buckley,
[Pfflß PBEBS ASSOCIATION.]
Wellington, This day.
Messrs Fisher and Duth'-e, M.H.K.'s, waited on the Colonial Secretary to urge that the electoral rolls should be properly purged. There were 112G names on the Wellington roll alone whom the postal officials, with all the resources at their command, ould not find. Hir Patrick Buckley said the statutory officers could not be iuterfered with by the Government, but the work of purging wus going on all over the colony, and whereever assistance was needed the Government weuld grant it. They would also consider the propriety of printiug the rolls for public inspection before they were finally cosed.
