The chrysanthemum aud fruit show under the auspices of the Napier Horticultural Society will be opened in the Theatre Royal to-morrow afternoon, when a varied assortment of interest to the general public and horticulturulists will bo ranged on view. The collection thia year will be even better than at any previous show, and such being the case, there should be a very large attendance on both days on which tho show will be open.
At the meeting of tho County Council this morning Mr Rymer remarkod that in his locality some people owned about ten head of cattle, and they did not possess a single acre of land. The roads were used as paddocks, while the constable said he had no right to impcuud cattle. The Act was read by the Chairman, showing that any person had a right to impound stray cattle, and all expenses connected therewith would have to be defrayed by the owner. A subsidy to the local constable would remedy the evil complained of.
A meeting of tho Charitable Aid Board was held this afternoon, when there were present—Messrs H. S. Tiffen (chair), R. D. McLean, Cohen, and Tanner.—Mr Cohen's motion relative to the Refuge was postponed until next meeting, which will be held in tho morning instead of the afternoon.—Ab Mr Gilbertson would not act as almoner for the Waipawa district, Mr S. Johnson was appointed to tho position.— Vouchers amounting to £176 2s 7d were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
A man named James McEwen will appear before the R.M. on Thursday next for using ob=cene language to Mr T. Morgan, headmaster of the Napier District School. It appears that McEwen had been served with a summons for neglecting to send his child to school, and when the scholars were assembling at half-past one o'clock this afternoon he roundly abused tho bead-master, making- use of obscene language in the presence of all the children. An information has consequently been laid against him.
Mr Montague Lascelles reports for week ending April 9th, 1892, as follows :— Potatoes, 3s to 3s 6d sack; oats, best Canterbury 2s 3d to 2s 4d bushel, seconds 9s sack ; barley. 2s 3d bushel; inaizo, 2s 3d to 2s 7d ; bran, 5s sack ; pollard, 9s to 9s Od sack ; pea-nuts, 3d lb ; apples, best eating free from moth 2_d to 2jd lb, seconds Id to 1 J-d lb, cooking best IJd to 2d lb, Beconds Jd to ljd; pears, 31d lb; watermelons, 3s to 4s sack ; oranges, Al Tahiti 7s to 7s 6d caße, Island oranges 6s 6d to 7s 6i case ; bacon, best Canterbury Gd to 7d lb, seconds 4d to 4|d lb, local 3d to 5d lb ; quinces, -Jd to Id per lb ; bananas, none to hand this week.
A speoial meeting of the Napier Harbor Board was held this afternoon to consider the Tutaekuri river diversion. Present— Hon. J. D. Ormond (in the chair), Messrß Neal, F. W. Williams, Carnell, Vautior, Rymer, H. Williams, G. H. Swan, M.H.R., and Thomas Tanner. The Chairman intimated that the meeting was called so that they might sco how matters stood in connection with the diversion scheme. The expenditure was likely to prove futile, and the expenditure of such sums of money should be considered by them as to whether it was desirable that the works should proceed. Mr Carr intimated that the amount expended so far on the diversion was £1097, and his report was being considered when we went to press.

Orther, claim £7 10s, with cobis 13s, and solicitor's fee 10s Gd (Mr Sheath for plaintiff). M. Ryan v. Mold, claim £6 7s 6d, with costs 15s. G. Neale v. C. A. Fisher, claim £2 2s 6d, with costs 5s (Mr Guy for plaintiff). A. Anderson v. D. Verschafeldt, claim £6 lis, with coets 10s, and solicitor's fee 10s Cd (Mr L-seelles for plaintiff). D. N. Adams v. P. Clarkin, claim £1 10s, with costs os, solicitor's fee 10s 6d (Mr Guy for plaintiff). Harpham v. J. E. Cantle, claim £1 14s, on a judgment summons; amount to bo paid in a fortnight. J. Marshall v. W. B. Fergusson, claim £2 17s Gd, on a judgment summons ; amount to be paid in a fortnight. Murray, Roberts, and Co. v. Paui Pani, claim £4 7a 6d, on a judgment summons; amount to be paid iv a fortnight (Mr Humphries for plaintiff). Murray, Roberts and Co. v. Puhara, claim £15 19s od, ona judgment summons; amount to be paid in three weeks.
