Sydney, This day. The National Association has issued its platform, practically throwing down the gauntlet to the labor party. Tho platform includes a dual vote, reduction in the number of Parliamentary representatives, singl-i electorates, registration of voters, economy in public exp-jnditure, Federation, and 1 >cal government. The deficit of the Cable Company for the year, owing to the reduction in the cable rates, is estimated at £57,000. The Rev. W. R. Fletcher, M. A., represents the Congregational Union of New South Wales at the Wellington Conference. Bei-bane, This day. Over three hundred Japanese employed on tbe Goondi sugarplantation, near Geraldtown, have struck work, owing to a reduction having been made iv their wages for time 10.-t through wet weather. The residents of Geraldtown are arming in case of emergency. Warrants which were issued for the arrest of four of the men on a charge of absconding from service have not been served, owing to the fear that an attempt to arrest them would provoke a general riot. Hobabt, This day. The barque Doon, which left Liverpool on November 3rd for Wellington, New Zealand, has arrived here, having been seriously damaged in a gale. She has lost her mainmast. Tho voyage will be resumed as soon as repairs are effected.
