THE RESCUE OF THE VENUS'S CREW.

A later telegram from Bellinger Head states that the crew of the wrecked schooner Venus were not rescued by the pilot crew as firßt supposed, but the rescue party comprised a crew from tho stranded steamers Avon and Fernmont. It was only with the greatest difficulty that the' rescue was effected, and the Venus's crew were very much exhausted from their long exposure in the rigging of the disabled vessol. CERTIFICATE SUSPENDED. Melboubne, This day. The certificate of Captain Chapman, of the American ship Joseph Scanneli, wrecked near Cape Otway on May Bth, has been suspended for twelve mouths. MAURITIUS AN INFECTED PORT. . O wing to the prevalence of small-pox at Mauritius the Health Department has declared it to be an infected port, and all vessels arriving from there will be placed in quarantine. SOUTH AUSTRALIA. Adelaide, This day The debate on Dr. Cockburn's no-confi-dence motion will probably close to-day. It is believed that the Government have a safe majority.
ANTARTIC EXPEDITION. Hobabt, This day. Tho Government has decided to support the antarctic expedition, and a sum of £100 will be placed on the estimates for that purpose.
