The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Coy. (limited) have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated yesterday :—Tallow is ready of sale. Fine mutton is worth 28s Gd, and good beef 2Ga 9d per cwt.—New Zealand Hemp.—Market dull, but quotations are unchanged.— Frozen meats market unchanged. [PEE PBESS ASSOCIATION.—COPTBIOIIT. J London, May 8. A. good many holders of New South Wales bonds are applying to be allowed to convert them on the terms offered. Silver Iβ at 3s BJd (Received May 9, 10.30 a.m.) The Bank of England returns, published to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £12,210,000. The proportion of reserve to liabilities is 33 - 36. Consols, 05 J, active. Three mouths' bills are at 3-J per cent. Now Zealand four per cent, inscribed stock, 101, improving. Three and a-half do., 061, quiet. . New" Zealand long-berried wheat, 445, quiet. For New Zealand wheat, on passage, sellers are asking 445, but buyers will not give more than 435. New Zealand hemp, medium quality, is quoted at £12, but there is no demand. Canterbury lamb, sd; beef, hind quarters 45e Bd. Frozen meat is unchanged. South Australian wheat, 44s 6d, market •weaker ; Victorian ditto, 445, restricted. Sugar, best, German baet, 13s 3d, firm; Java, 15s. . No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, f.0.b., m Clyde, 47s 3d, market weak.
