[SPECIAL TO FBKSS ASSOCIATION.—COPTEIQHT.J (Received August 21, 10 a.m.) FUNERAL OF CARDINAL NEWMAN. London, August 20. Tho ex-Bishop of Christchurch, Bishop O'Dwyer, tho Dean of Durham, the Provost of Oriel, and the President of Trinity College, attended the funeral of the late Cardinal Nownaan. Sir Charles Clifford was also present. His Eminence Cardinal Manning preachod the funeral sermon. Mr Gladstone, and Mr Francis Newman, the youngest brother of the deceased, were unable to attend. DOCKERS' CONGRESS. It has been decided to hold tho Dookera' Congress on September 23rd.. ... NAVAL MANOEUVRES. The naval manoeuvres have been concluded. Tho are regarded as having been a fiasco. '. ■ MORE STEAMERS. The British India Steam Navigation Company nre building four steamers for the frozen meat trade between Queensland and England. THE EARL OF JERSEY. Tho Earl of Jersey has been gazetted Governor of New South Wales. A NEW LINE. The Podrano, 5000 tons, is the first steamer of the lino to connect New York with Australia. She sailed for Melbourne yesterday. TILBURY DOCK STRIKE. Tho directors of tho Tilbury docks have refused not to employ non-Unionist labor, and in consequence trade is at a standstill.
