His Worship tho Mayor has received a draft for £72 17s Od from the Royal Danish Vico-Corisulate at Christehurch, being the balance of the subscriptions raised in that city in aid of the Norsewood bush relief fund. Tho total amount collected at Christehurch for this • cause has been £223 10s 4d.

The services at St. Andrew's Church yesterday, wero marked with" special carnest-s ness. 'Tlie sound catholic teaching of the' curate in oharge bore good fruit in a large attendance at tho service of Holy Communion, and is a great evidence of the derided progress that has been made. The whole of the peoplo romained in church, through tbe service, whilo the number of: communicants was unprecedented. devout and reverent attention of the young and non-communicants must have beon very encouraging to Mr Froolond. The mission service in the afternoon, to men only, was well attended. The address was characterised by a most vigorous appeal, illustrating the manliness of a religious lifo. At evensong tho church was full, the service throughout being most bright and hearty, and closed with the National Anthem. The choir of boys and men have made great progress under Mr Freeland's care, and the good behaviour of the boyß ia quite a pattern for ohurch choirs.
