London, February 7. A million of the Victorian loan has been paid.
A large shipment of Scotch and Rhine salmon ova and Rhine char, trout, and carp will be forwarded by the Aorangi. Sir Arthur Blyth and Sir Saul Samuel are urging a conference of mail companies. A paper on colonial fruits has been read by Mr Morris at the Colonial Institute. Iv it he states that Victorian canned fruits are equal to the best Californian, and ought to be more largely exported to England ; also that dried figs and Adelaide pears were greatly valued in the market ; large quantities of apples and grapes were grown in Perth; and the Adelaide seedless currants were equal to the best imported. New Zealand and Victorian apples were also mentioned as valuable articles of export. February 8.

In the House of Commons to-day Sir Henry Holland, Secretary of State for tho Colonies, replying to a question, announced that no discussion' - with regard to Stateaided emigration to tho _ colonies, would take place at tho Imperial Jubilee Conference, unless the colonial delegates desirod that the subject should be discussed.
Tho mails per P. and O. steamship Rome, from Melbourne, December 30th, wore delivered in London to-day via Brindisi. February 8.
In the House of Commons last night Mr Parnell, in a speech which was moderate in tone, moved an amendment to the address-iii-repry, denying that there was disorder in Ireland where rents had been suitably reduced. Autonomy, not repression, he declared, was the remedy for tho present crisis.
Sir Charles Warren, chief of tho metropolitan police, has forbidden a torchlight procession of Socialists, which was proposed to take place in the AVcst End of London to-night to celebrate the anniversary of the previous Socialist riots.
It is reported that Earl Duuravcii, Undersecretary of State for the Colonies, will shortly resign his appointment for the same reasons which caused the resignation of Lord Randolph Churchill. News has been received that the Negus, of Abyssinia, has written to the General commanding the Italian forces at Massowah demanding the evacuation of that district by the Italians. Sydney, February 7. For East Maitland Mr Bruuker, and for Molong Mr Ross, have been returned unopposed. A cricket match between Shaw and Lillywhite's team aud one from the Maitland district resulted in a draw in favor of the former.
H.M.S. Dart, which has arrived at Sydney, picked up three Frencluncn, who have been identified sis escapees from New Caledonia, and they have been returned under the extradition treaty with that colony. This day.

The Queensland Meat Preserving Company have received further large orders for tinned beef, which are believed to be for the Continent.
