PANIC AT DONGOLA IN CONSEQUENCE OF THREATENED ATTACK.

Tho cricket match, Australians versus Lord Sheffield's eleven, was commenced at Sheffield to-day. The following are the names of the home team: —Grace, Greenfield, Shaw, Hide, Phillips, Shrewsbury, Barnes, Barlow, Ulyett, Harrison, and Mycroft. The attendance of spectators was large, and the weather was splendid. The visitors met with a good reception. The home team went in first, and were all out for 86. Tho highest scorer was Shrewsbury, lbw, 39. The bowling of Giff on and Palmer was very effective. Tho former took six wickets for 50 runs, and the latter four for 30. Tho Australians then commenced their first innings, and at the conclusion of tho day's play had lost four wickets for a total of 172. The principal scorers were — McDonnell, b, 32; Bannerman, not out, 71; Giffen, c, 27; Blackham, not out, 22. The division on Sir M. Hicks-Beach's motion, censuring the Government for the delay which has occurred in the despatch of an expedition to tho Soudan to rescue General Gordon and the beleagured garrison at Khartoum, is expected to tako place at a late hour this evening. Tho debate on the motion is now proceeding.
