Tho Times says the attempt to revivo tho Oriontalßank Company hasbeen abandoned. Tho Board of Directors are now endeavoring to farm the assets of the company. The Cape Ministry have resigned. Gordon Pasha has succeeded in cutting a trench between the Palace of Khartoum aud the position where the rebellious portion of the inhabitants are situated. Messrs Dalgery, Dv Croz, and Co. s shares have been fully subscribed, and the debenture stock has also been largely subscribed. Information from the Cape states that the vessel Bulli, bound from London to Sydney, has stranded at Paternoster Cape, which is situated at the south end of St. Helena Bay. Tho 20 carcases of frozen mutton, ex the steamer Lusitania, which Messrs Simon Fraser and James Winter sent to Paris for sale, have realised 6Jd per lb. Lord Derby privately condemns the Recidivisto Bill as an infamous scheme, and states that any attempt to export criminals to New Caledonia must bo stopped. At the Crystal Palace Exhibition Mr Gladstone was hissed for the delay which has taken place with regard to the relief of Khartoum. The directors of the Oriental Bank intend to apply to the Court for permission to pay the drafts of the Victorian Government, but it is uncertain if future drafts will be similarly treated. The Governments of Ceylon and Mauritius desire that an assistant liquidator should be appointed. May 10. Forty shillings has been refused for several cargoes of Australian wheat now off tho coast, and that price may be taken as the extreme value of cargoes now on passage Home. In the wool sales, crossbreds have improved a halfpenny. Other wools are firm at the reduced prices obtained at the opening of the sales, b tit there is an occasional advance. 114,000 bales have been catalogued and 10,000 withdrawn. The scheme for the revival of the Oriental Bank is condemned in tho Press, and the best business names have been withdrawn from it. Shares in colonial banks generally are depressed. The lonic has arrived with her meat in splendid condition. May 11. The Court has directed that Oriental Bank drafts shall be debited to the account of the Victorian Government. Madagascar is willing to cede the islands on its coast to France, and to pay an indemnity. Lord Randolph Churchill has become reconciled to his party. Mr Heaton, of Sydney, urges the formation in London of an Anti-Recidivisto Society. Tho Envorarnen, from Java to Greenock with a crew shipped in Melbourne, is believed to be lost.
