This day.

Tho Government having decided to divert a portion of the new Post and Telegraph offices for the use of the Customs Department, a meeting of members of the Chamber of Commorco and leading citizens was held yesterday for the purpose of considering the matter, and a deputation from the Chamber of Commerce intcrvicved tho Premier this morning protesting against the diversion. Major Atkinson promised full consideration of the question, and said he would ascertain if tho ground floor of tho building could ■be left in undisturbed possession of the Post and T6legraph Departments.
