After some parley the contractors Avere allowed to begin pile-driving in the bed of the river, no work to be done on nativo land till the Government arc communicated with. A native disturbance has occurred at AYaotu, and the survey party have suspended surveys through the threats of the natives till Mr Percy Smith, chief surveyor, is communicated Avith.
