During the month of September, 1883, 1200 persons arrived in New Zealand, and 517 loft the colony. Of tho individual ports Auckland had the largest number of arrivals, 808, and the second largest number of departures, 131, Invercargill standing first in this latter respect, with 200, and second in regard to arrivals, 239. AVcllington had 71 arrivals and 117 departures; Dunedin 46 arrivals and only 1 departure. At Lyttelton the arrivals and departures exactly balanced one another, each being 37. Among the smaller ports Greymouth had G and Timaru 2 arrivals ; Napier 1 departure. All other ports nil. For the September quarter the arrivals Avero: — Auckland, 1200; AVcllington 895; Invercargill, G6B ; Dunedin, 328 ; Lyttelton, 93 ; Greymouth, 11 ; Timaru, 2; Oamaru, 1. Departures— Invercargill, G7G ; Lyttelton, 402; AVellington, 396; Greymouth, 35; Dunedin, 5; Wanganui and Nelson, each 4 ; Timaru, 2; Napier and Oamaru, each 1. The total arrivals for the quarter Avcro 3258; departures, 1994 ; leaving a balance of 1294 persons in faA-our of the colony.
