At the Supreme Court yesterday John Browne and Charles Grappell were convicted of the jewelry robbery at Honrickson's. Sentence was deferred.
In the Cambridge native ejectment case Mr Hesketh informed the Court that Mr E. 13. Walker had made a satisfactory settlement with the natives. Walker was fined £0.5 for the offence, being the amount of costs incurred by the Crown in instituting the proceedings against him. To-day Judge Gillies, in the bribery case, ruled that the indictment was illogical and bad, and quashed it. Stevens was therefore discharged without the case going to a j u, yCnniSTCnuncir, This day. At the Supreme Court to-day, William Connor, who had been convicted of larceny last session, and a point reserved on appeal, was sentenced to 18 months' hard labor, and William Seake, convicted of indecent assault, in whose caso ulno a point had been reserved, and the Court of Appeal eonfinned the conviction, was sentenced to nine months' hard labor. Dun'kpkt, This day. In Moran's case, for arson, the jury were locked up for the night, but could not agree, and were discharged this morning. A second trial will take place on Monday. Robert Farmer received six months' :niprisonment for issuing a false £5 note.
