June 20. Thollon. Evelyn Ashley, Undcr-Secre-tary for tho Colonies, has; in the House of Commons, declined to advise the Governor of New South Wales to increase tho reward offered for the discovery of the fate of Jjamont «wd Young.

It is now ascertained that the. ships Hurunui and Waitani left Gravesend together on Friday night, and collided in the Channel the same night. The weather was thick and hazy. The Hurunui struck the Waitara. amidships, and the latter sank whilst endeavors were being made to lower the boats. A few of the crew and passengers clambered on board the Hurunui. The boats from the Hurunui were immediately lowered, and picked up a number of persons out of the water. Thostvdrowned were—Mr Cheek, Misses Haylor \'l), and A. Noble (all cabin passengers), 8 steerage passengers, the second officer, the- chief steward, and 11 of the crew. The Hurunui suffered considerable damage, and was towed back to London to be docked and repaired. Her Majesty tho Queen has returned from Balmoral to Windsor Castle.
