Peete te AAveawe and AViremu Kie Avere charged, the former with drunkenness, and the latter with drunkenness while in charge of ahorse and trap. Both prisoners pleaded guilty, and were fined 5s aud costs, and .£1 aud costs respectively. Tho fines Avere paid. CIVIL CASES. Hoggard v. Smith and AYalker— Claim .CM 3s. Judgment for plaintiff by default, with costs, and counsel's fee. Monteith v. O'Shanuessy—Claim £2 15s Gel. Judgment by default for plaintiff Avith costs. AViiiks v. E. L. Peters—Claim £15 Is. Judgment by default for plaintiff, Avith costs and counsel's fee. Collinge v. Roper—Claim O.s Od for rates. Judmnent for plaintiff with costs. Dolbel and Co. v. Olsen—Claim £2 lGs Gd. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. Fortune and Black v. Al'Conuick. — Claim £17 0s 3d. -Judgment for plaintiff for £12 Gs Od, with costs and counsel's fee. A number of other cases wore settled, and one was adjourned. ckuelty to animals. The cases against three natives for cruelly ill-treating sheep at Patea, the evidence in wliich Avas commenced yesterday, were still proceeding Avhen avc Avent to press.
