A_C__TECT's REPORT. The Board's architect submitted the following report: —■ Plans.—Herewith I have the honor to submit to the Board plans for—l, additions to Meanee school; 2, new school at Fraser town: 3, present school room at do._: adapted as master's house ; -1. new teacher's house, Makatoku. Patanirata.—l do not think it will be possible to make a reliable report ou the buildings at Patangata until I have inspected them. T propose paying a visit there about the end of this week. Tenders. —I have examined the tenders for new buildings. The lowest one for Gisborne school appears to me to be too low. In the other cases the lowest tenders appear to be sufficient, and might be accepted. Napier Infant School.—l. have examined the leaks in the roof of this school, and find that they arise at the junction of the bell cot Avith the main roof. The flushing should, in my opinion, be of lead instead of zinc, and should extend further over the iron roof-covering. I beg to suggest that the bell be ooutra'etedabout two foot each way iv its spread, and that O.H. lead be substituted for the zinc, dressed over rolls, and carefully dressed to the iron. This would necessitate some alteration to the woodwork, and lengthening and replacing several of the iron"sheets on each side. I estimate the cost of this at about £-11. In my opinion the roof cannot bo made Avater-tight as it is at present.—l have, iVic. Robert Lajir. Architect. The expenditure for repairing the roof of the Napier infant school was approved, and the Avork ordered to be carried out forthAvith. TKNDEIiS. The foUoAviug tenders Avere accepted for works:—Additions and alterations to Taradale school, €278 17s (id, John Renouf : additions and alterations to Port Ahuriri school, £301 18s (id, John Renouf; new infant sc>.ool at Gisborne, £777, Mr Robert Houlden.
