News is to hand from Cannes that Mr Gladstone is daily improving in health, and is now no longer troubled with sleeplessness. Messrs Healy and Davitt, who were yesterday required to find bail for their good behaviour, or to be imprisoned for six months, have refused to find the necessary sureties, and they have consequently to ruidergo imprisonment. The Prince of Wales has left England on a visit to Cannes, in the south of France. The first of the year's series of colonial wool auctions opens on February 20. The arrivals to date comprise 110,000 bales. The total probable quantity to be offered, including a quantity held over from last sales, is 270,000 bales.
