SUPREME COURT, DUNEDIN.
Dunedin, Yesterday. The charge of murder against Beattie is proceeding. The only iicas- evidence adduced is that given by a Maori named Timaru, aa-lio stated that on tho night of May 27th he prevented Beattie striking the deceased A\-ith a stick by getting betAveen them. The deceased, who was the Avorse for drink at the time, Avas on the way to his (Avitness') house for the purpose of getting his clothes.
