REPORT OF MUNICIPAL PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE.
The Public Works Committee of the Municipal Council held their usual meeting lust evening, and agreed to recommend the Council as follows : — 1. That the engineer's report be adopted, and that with reference to the petition re Hyderabad road the attention of the Hon. the Colonial Secretary be called to the fact that he has not yet acknowledged the receipt of the Town Clerk's letter re matters referred to him, and that his attention be further called to the fact that these matters are of very pressing importance. 2. That applications be invited from competent engineers to drive, clean, and repair when necessary the new engine and plant now in process of erection for the new waterworks. 3. That the ratepayers within the district watered by the watering-cart be requested to notify whether they wish to continue the watering of (he streets as at present, and, if w>, whether they will contribute towards the cost thereof.
