December 27. Sir Julius Vogel arrived here at 1 o'clock to-day. He was met by Major Atkinson and several leading citizens, but there was no ceremony. He will be entertained at luncheon to-morrow. There was an immense attendance at the Theatre last night to witness the second representation of TarabourMajor, and hundreds were unable to secure admission. The Forester's fete was well attended yesterday, and was wound up by a torchlight procession at night. In the Divorce Court, in the case of Mackay v. Mackay and Campbell (corespondent) a verdict was given for the petitioner with £300 damages. The petitioner clamed £1000. Judge Richmond said that it was the "first case in New Zealand where damages had been claimed in a divorce suit. A rule nisi, returnable in five months, waa granted for the dissolution of marriage.
