[by cable.] London, December 16. Consols remain at 904, ex-dividend. The market rate of discount has risen by three-eights, to 3| ; the bank rate remains at 5 per cent. New Zealand securities are unchanged as follows : —Five per cent 10-40 loan, .105! : five per cent 1889 loan, 104, ex-dividend ; four and a half per cent 1879-1904 loan, 10] i. Colonial breadstuffs are unchanged at 49/- for Adelaide wheat, ex-warehouse, and 43/6 to 46/6 for New Zealand, but to effect sales lower prices must be accepted ; Adelaide flour remains at 34/-. The market tor Australian tallow is rather ■weaker, best beef fetching 42/-, and best mutton 44/6. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,330,000 quarters. There is a fair demand for all kinds of Australian hides, but prices are unchanged.
