The metropolitan meeting was continued yesterday under very unfavorable circumstances, the weather being dull and cold, with heavy rain from the south-west. The attendance, considering the weather, was very good.. JUVENILE PLATE, Of 150 soys., -with, a sweepstake of 5 soys each, to go to the second horse ; for two and three-year-olds ; 5 furlongs. Hon. W. Robinson's Oupres, 2 yrs ... 1 Mr Cutts'"Water Nymph, 2 yrs ... 2 Mr G-, Bates' Minerva, 3 yrs 3 —Siesta also ran. Betting—s to 2 on Oudres. Won easily by three lengths. Time, lmin. 7_secs. GRAND STAND HANDICAP, A sweepstakes of 3 soys each, with 100 soya added • one mile. Mr O'Brien's b c Tasman, 4 yrs, 7sfc 12lb (Ruddings) ... ... ... ~, 1 Mr Lee's br c Emir Bey, 4yrs, 7sfc 31b (Wattie) 2 Hon. "W. Robinson's br m Lady Emma, 5 yrs,,Bst 111b (Allen) 3 —Nautilus and St. Albans also ran. Time, lmin. 49secs. THE CANTERBURY CTJP, A sweepstakes of 20 soys each, with 500 soys added, second horse to receive 50 soys from the stakes, and third horse to save his stake ; three-year-olds, 7st 61b ; four-year-olds, 9st; five-year-olds, 9_t 51b ; six-year-olds and aged, 9st 61b. Two miles and a quarter. Mr D. Proudfoot's b h Sir Modred, 5 yrs, 9st 51b (Thompson) 1 Hon. W. Robinson's b c Cheviot, 3 yrs, 7st 61b (Smith) 2 Hon. W. Robinson's br c Vanguard, 3 yrs, 7sfc 61b (Derrifcfc) 3 —Leos (Wattie) and Welcome Jack (Smith) also ran.
Betting—6 to 4on Cheviot, 6to 4 against Welcome Jack, 6to 1 against tbe others. The excitement as the horses neared tbe post was intense, and the victory of Sir Modred was hailed with a hearty cheer. Time, 4mins. ld^secs.

The Metropolitan Paces were continued to-day. The weather was glorious, and tho attendance was much above the average for the third day of the meeting. Tho betting was 2 to 1 on Sir Modred, who made the running from the start, was never caught, and won easily by two lengths. Time, 3mins. llfsecs.
