October. 18—Lizzie, cutter, for Auckland
The steamer Maori, Capt. Anderson, returned from Wairoa yesterday afternoon, bringing several passengers and 100 sacks of maize.
The Union Company's s.s. Boojum, Capt. Maloney, returned from Wairoa at 7 o'clock last night. She reports having had to land and embark her passengers off the beach, as the bar ■was too bad for her to cross.
Owing to an unfavorable report of the Wairoa bar reaching Capt. Baxter yesterday afternoon, the p.s. Manaia's departure has necessarily been indefinitely postponed. The cutter Lizzie, Capt. MeGreney, sailed for Auckland yesterday afternoon, with a cargo of 600 sacks of potatoes. She is to return to this port again with timber. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Rotorua, Cnpt. Tozer, owing to leaving Sydney a day late this trip, does not leave Auckland before to-morrow, which will make it Sunday before she can arrive here. She is announced to leave for Southern ports at 10 o'clock on Sunday morning. The steamer Kiwi is expected to arrive here by daylight to-morrow morning from Wellington and the coast, and is advertised to leave again for Wellington at 7 o'clock to-morrow night. • The steamer Go-Ahead, Captain P. Doile, left Wellington at 7 o'clock last night, with the newspaper portion of our 'Frisco mail. She passed Castle Point today at 10 a.m., and will arrive here about the same hour to-night. She is announced to steam again southwards at 6 o'clock tomorrow evening. r Jhe Union Steamship Company's s.s. Arawata is to leave Wellington on Saturday, and may be looked for here on Sunday forenoon. Bhe is announced to leave for Northern ports at 4 o'clock the same afternoon. The B.s. Oreti, Captain Helander, is expected here to-morrow morning from Gisborne and Auckland. Should she get discharged in time she will steam again northwards at noon to-morrow. (by cable.) Melbourne, October 19. Arrived, this morning, P. and O. steamship Ancona with the inward Suez mail; last evening, steamship Te Anau from the Bluff. [by telegbaph.] Dtjsedix, October 19. irrived, City of Bombay, Captain Bhind, from Glasgow. She conies into port with the loss of part of her bulwarks, having experienced a succession of heavy gales while running down the easting off the coast of Tasmania. During a terrific gale she had her main rigging carried away. She brings 39 passengers.
