CAMBRIDGE.

September 28

The Native Lands Court has commenced its sittings. An enormous tract of land will be brought into Court, amounting to some 600,000 or 700,000 acres, extending in the centre of the island from Maungatautari to Lake Taupo, and including tbe Waotu district. The applicants are chiefly of the Ngatiraukapa tribe. There will be considerable opposition to tbe passing through the Court of these large blocks of land on the part of certain of the native owners, who desire to part with their land only in email pieces.
