THE SCANDINAVIAN CONCERT.
[TO THE EdITOB OF THE DAILY TELEGRAPH.] Sib,-—As the promoter of the Scandinavian Concert held last night I hereby take the liberty to beg you to open your columns, in order that I might thank the ladies and gentlemen who kindly patronised the performers with their presence, and especially the Bishop of Waiapu for taking the chair. There are not many of my respectable countrymen in Napier except those who willingly have and will again lend their aid towards laying the foundation stone of that grand benevolent undertaking, a children's ward for the hospital, aud I beg to mention that, when [ proposed this concert, I did it only to prove to our British protectors thit we knew it was our duty to do our share towards erecting such an establishment, where we might ourselves have yet to apply for help, lam sorry that we only had a medium attendance, but we will do better next time, it being intended to have a series of entertainments for the same noble purpose, and I shall personally do my utmost in making them a success.—l am, &c, P. H. Hojlm, B.A. . Napier, 28th September, 1882.
