fBY CABLE.] Stdnbi, September 2. The Australian Jockey Club's spring meeting commenced to-day. The weather was most favorable, and an immense crowd of visitors, estimated at fully ten thousand, visited the course. His Excellency the Governor and suite were also present. The results were as follows:— HUKDLB KACE, Of 2£ miles Basihsk 1 Sportsman 2 Annie Laurie 3 THB DEBBT. Navigator 1 Segenhoe ... ... ... 2 Louis and Nicholas ran a dead heat for third place. These foar horses were the only starters. Nicholas led from the start for three-fourths of the distance, when Navigator went forward and took the lead round the home turn, Nicholas gradually falling behind. Segenhoe made a splendid effort near the winning post to catch Navigator, but failed, the latter winning by a length and a half, and the favorite taking second place, Louis and Nicholas m racing for third and finishing with a dead heat.
