Messrs H. Monteith and Co. report:—At our monthly sale of cattle at the Shamrock yards on Wednesday there were 82 head yarded. Of these there was a fine lot of 47 head of prime fat bullocks from the herd of the Hon. H. R. Russell such as have not been submitted to auction in this province for a very long time, the opinion of the butchers present being that they would average considerably over 1000 lbs. . Prices ruled moderate for the class of cattle offered. We quote as follows:—Eat bullocks, from £8 12s 6d to £9 17s fid; store steers, twoyears old, £4 ; yearling steers, £2 l?s fid. calves, £1 17s 6d ; cows, £6 12s 6d to £7; Af tev the cattle sale we sold a lot of totara wire fencing posts at £3 10s per 100. [by cable.] LoHDon, November 1. Consols, 99i. New Zealand securitses are unchanged. The market rate of discount has been reduced to 4 per cent., but the bank rate remains at 5 per cent. Adelaide flour, ex-warehouse, 42s ; Adelaide wheat, ex-warehouse, 57s ; New Zealand wheat, ex-store, 545. Australian tallow, best beef 38s, and best mutton 41s. The London Stock Exchange is closed today owing to a holiday.
