The steamer Maori, Capt. H: Anderson, returned from Wairoa via Mohaka at 6 o'clock last night, with a large numher of passengers. The s.s. Sir Donald, Capt. John Quinlan, arrived from Blackhead at eight o'clock last night, with 128 dumps of wool, which she transhipped to thY ship Hermione this morning:. She starts fc Whangaehei at about 5 o'clock to-night for wool.
The s.s. Resnlt, Capt W. E. Baxter, left for Wairoa at about 10 o'clock last night, ■with a number of passengers and a good cargo, which will be landed on the beach. She will then proceed to Whakaki for wool. The steamer Fairy, Capt. John Campbell, returned from Mahia at 3 o'clock this morning, with 400 bags of maize and 2 bales of sheepskins. The cutter Clara, Captain D. Ferney, sailed for Mohaka last night with i a good cargo. The brigantine Anthons, Capt. J. Payne, sailed this morning for Greymouth in ballast.
The s.s. Kiwi, Capt. James Campbell, left Wellington at 6.30 p.m. on Wednesday ; arrived at TTriti at 5 a.m. next day ; landed cargo, and left at 8 a.m. ; arrived at Castlepoint at 11 a.m.; discharged 15 tons cargo, and left at 2 p.m.; called at Wainui and landed some passengers, and arrived here at 6 o'clock this morning. Experienced fine weather during thy first portion of the vovnge, and strong westerly gales during the hitter. She was brought straight inside by the pilot and moored" at the cattte wharf, when she discharged her cargo during the day, consisting of 160 tons, including a qvtantity of transhipments from the ship Wairon from London and the barque Virginia from New York. She is to leave again for Wellington at S o'clock to-night. The s.s. Bella transhipped another load of dumped wool from Mr R. P. Williams, Clive boiling-down, to the Hermione yesterday.
The Union Company's s.s. .Arawata, Capt. Sinclair, leaves Gisborne to-night, and will arrive here the first thing to-morrow morning. She is announced to ssil again for Southern ports, Hohart. and Melbourne, at eleven o'olock to-morrow. She takes the outward portion of our 'Frisco mail. We are requested to etnte that the s.s. Boojivm will leave for the Wairoa on Tuesday. Bth. instant* at midnight, instead of on Wednesday, the 9th, as previously advertised. The ship Otaki, 95 days from London, arrived at Dunedin on Tuesday last.,
